Dear FEI Eventing Judges, Technical Delegates, Course Designers & Stewards,
Effective communication and a constant flow of information play an essential role in the development of Eventing worldwide.

The topics may vary but will mainly address new Eventing Rules, Dressage tests, Cross country initiatives and information around the Education system.
We hope that this initiative will provide increased opportunities for Officials to share insights, submit questions and address queries.
Below please find all the relevant information regarding the first webinar:

Further to feedback received from numerous Athletes and Officials, who are seeking clarity regarding the use of tack and equipment during the Olympic & Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, the FEI agreed that this would be the last update of the FEI Tack App prior to the Games. The temporary pause of updates to the FEI Tack App will be applied to all FEI Disciplines, including non-Olympic Disciplines.
Following the conclusion of the Olympic & Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, the updates shall resume on every first Monday of the month, as per the usual process.

Yesterday, the FEI hosted an online Q&A session for all FEI Eventing Officials, following the announcement made last week regarding the termination of the Memorandum of Understanding between the FEI and the International Eventing Officials Club (IEOC). Thirty-seven Officials attended the meeting, which was co-hosted by FEI Legal Director Mikael Rentsch, Director of Eventing & Olympic Catrin Norinder and Director of Education & Officials Frank Spadinger. The aim of this session was to provide a platform for FEI Eventing Officials to raise questions and concerns they may have.
The main questions revolved around the representation of FEI Eventing Officials within the FEI Eventing Committee, the reasons for the termination of the MOU with the IEOC and whether there would be any issue for FEI Eventing Officials who are also a member of the IEOC. Officials were encouraged to report incidents and issues directly to FEI Headquarters in order to ensure these were addressed within the Eventing Committee and at operational level in HQ.
The session provided the opportunity for the FEI to clarify and reassure, that while FEI Eventing Officials are no longer officially represented by a stakeholder, this does not impact their relationship with the FEI, nor their duties as FEI Officials. Furthermore, FEI Eventing Officials continue to be well represented within the FEI Eventing Committee, not only through Anne-Mette Binder (DEN), but also through other Eventing Officials Members which make up this committee and are available to channel feedback to the FEI.
As to the reasons for terminating the MOU with the IEOC, it was once again reiterated that this decision was based on trust issues and a general breakdown of the relationship. However, it was important for the FEI to clarify that this has no impact on FEI Eventing Officials, whether they are member of the IEOC or not.
Lastly, concerns were raised regarding the information flow between the FEI and FEI Eventing Officials. Here again, reassurance was provided and it was explained that information is available through various channels such as the National Federations, the FEI website as well as various newsletters, such as the FEI Update which provides the broader equestrian community with all relevant updates. Of course, the relevant FEI departments also remain directly available for any queries.
We believe it was important to host this Q&A session for continued cooperation with FEI Officials and hope to have been able to provide clarifications where necessary. We would also like to thank all the participants for their input and their time.
Should you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us. We would also like to take this opportunity to invite all FEI Eventing Officials not already subscribed to the FEI Update, to please do so by filling out the form available here.
The FEI update is the official communication channel intended to keep all FEI stakeholders up to date on important information in regard to essential FEI topics. In addition, a dedicated email address Eventingofficials@fei.org allows for all Officials to contact the FEI Eventing department directly.
We would like to inform you that the FEI has decided to no longer recognise the International Eventing Officials Club (IEOC) as an official FEI Stakeholder and consequently has terminated its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the IEOC, effective immediately.
The MOU was based on trust and the mutual commitment to foster the growth of equestrian sport together in a respectful and harmonious manner. Unfortunately, in the past months it has become evident that there is a breach of trust and a general breakdown of the relationship with the IEOC management. Seeing that no further dialogue and collaboration is possible, the FEI has decided to formally terminate the relationship with the IEOC, and thus terminate the MOU.
Consequently, the IOEC will no longer benefit of the conditions offered to MOUs, and the FEI will no longer recognise the IEOC as the international organisation representing the collective views of the FEI Eventing Officials. We would like to stress however, that this decision does not impact the relationship of the FEI with its Eventing Officials in any way, with whom we wish to maintain a positive collaboration. I addition, we would like to remind NFs that the interests of the Eventing Officials are currently represented on the FEI Eventing Committee by an Eventing Official.
A version of this communication is also being shared with all Eventing Officials, and we have organised a dedicated Q&A session for them on Tuesday 5 March at 15h00 CET in order to answer any questions they may have.
In the meantime, should NFs have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact officials@fei.org.
The FEI Board held a teleconference on 27 February. The main resolutions taken on this occasion are listed below.
Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games
Eventing Competition Format
The Board agreed with the proposed modifications to the Eventing Olympic Competition format, which will be shared with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by the set deadline of 1 March 2024 as per the official International Federations consultation process launched by the IOC.
The details of the proposal were discussed during the online Eventing Seminar held on 20 January 2024 and are outlined in this press release.
The details pertaining to the technical aspects of the proposed format will be discussed in detail next year in the framework of the revision of the FEI Regulations for Equestrian Events at the Olympic Games, once the IOC has provided its feedback.
