Central American Games

The Central American Games are made up of seven countries from Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama) and take place every four years. The first edition took place in 1973, in Guatemala City.

The Central American Games are organised by the Organización Deportiva Centroamericana (ORDECA). In order to participate, all athletes must be entered by their National Olympic Committee. Therefore, 7 countries (as listed above) are invited by ORDECA to participate.

There were 1095 athletes competing in 20 sports at the 8th Central American Games in 2005.

Equestrian sport made its debut at ORDECA in 1986 in Guatemala. Over the years, the following disciplines (Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Endurance) have been included in the programme.

The 2022 Edition of the Central American Games taking place from 27 October to 13 November 2022 in Guatemala and Costa Rica was cancelled.
