Welcome by the FEI President and the FEI Secretary General
There is no doubt in any one’s mind that this has been an extremely challenging year at every level, requiring every individual and organisation to adapt and change in the face of a global pandemic.
This online General Assembly – the first of its kind – is one among countless repercussions we have had to contend with, and in many ways, it is a test of our systems and our adaptability, which we have decided to welcome with open arms.
Given its online nature, the FEI is effectively hosting this General Assembly however, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the National Federation of South Africa for their flexibility and enthusiasm, and delaying their bid to host the GA from 2020 to 2021 when we will all hopefully be able to meet in person again.
As you will see from the new display and GA hub structure, we have done everything in our power to make this special “online” edition a success, by simplifying the user journey to access all the relevant information so that distance cannot get in the way of progress and our firm commitment to transparency and good governance.
As you may know, since 2017 we have made all annexes for the GA as well as agendas, presentations and rules revisions processes and feedback available publicly in line with the transparency principle defined by the Association of Sports Olympic International Federation (ASOIF).
You will find all this information by navigating through the tabs above, including the timetable for the online GA week as well as all the relevant deadlines, documents, news and links to watch the General Assembly on 23 November live as it unfolds or in Replay depending on your timezone! As any GA, a live stream is available to the public, and for our members, we have a dedicated platform allowing them to interject and vote as they would customarily. We will also have our regular “Sessions” which take place on 21 November and will cover rule changes where again, all member delegates will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions to the relevant representatives, allowing for as much dialogue as possible given the online format.
We are a service organisation driven by our mission to drive and develop equestrian sport globally in a modern, sustainable and structured manner with guaranteed integrity, athlete welfare, equal opportunity and a fair and ethical partnership with the horse. And this applies in all times and all situations, even as we tackle a global pandemic.
We look forward to a very productive online General Assembly and would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to every individual and organisation – both professional and amateur – in the equestrian world.
Thank you for your time, #StaySafe

14 August 2020 | Online FEI General Assembly 2020 - Timetable |
The FEI Board approved the new timetable for the FEI General Assembly 2020, which will be held electronically due to Covid-19 social distancing requirements and travel restrictions. Please note the dates have been moved due to all parameters which had to be taken into consideration for the organisation of an online General Assembly. |
|
26 June 2020 | FEI General Assembly 2020 moves online |
The FEI General Assembly 2020 will be held electronically, following the cancellation of the in-person meetings planned for Johannesburg (RSA) in November due to Covid-19 social distancing requirements and travel restrictions. The FEI Board also voted unanimously to allocate the FEI General Assembly 2021 to South Africa. The FEI is currently considering a number of electronic solutions for running the General Assembly online. Details will be communicated to National Federations in due course. Read also the Press Release.
|
As this is the first FEI General Assembly to be held online, the logistics differ based on the role of attendees.
Only National Federations and Board Members are required to register. For all other participants such as MOU signatories, guests, media, and the general public, there is no need to register for the FEI General Assembly 2020.
For all National Federations and Board Members, clear guidelines have been provided via NF News on 22 September and 8 October 2020 regarding the registration process including mandatory training sessions to test the platforms and familiarise members so they may fully express their statutory rights, in particular with regards to the right to participate, to speak and to vote.
For all members of the public and stakeholders that do not have a speaking or voting right at the General Assembly, a live stream (also available in Replay) will be available as well as access to all the supporting documents and information around the General Assembly.
Please refer to the timetable for all session and meeting times as well as the deadlines for all the key dates, including the publication of annexes and minutes.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The FEI General Assembly has been live streamed on 23 November 2020 starting at 12:00 CET.
