Additional Endurance Certifications

In addition of the certification of Data Handling and Results Providers, the FEI has set up two additional certifications specific to the Endurance discipline:

1. Certification for Endurance Timing Systems, Electronic Vet Gate & Tracking Systems

This evaluation has to be done on-site during an FEI Endurance Event where the whole system is installed and operated. This is to evaluate the operation of the system in terms of managing the Vet Gate (timing points, assignment of horses to vet lines, etc...). It is also to evaluate the Electronic Vet Cards solution. 2. Approval of Heart Rate monitors

This approval will be done by an external supplier. At the moment we are still working on setting up our new evaluation process for Heart Rate monitors and the approval is not available immediately.

If your software offers the necessary features and matchs the technical requirements it can be presented to the FEI for approval.

Being certified by the FEI can assist and promote IT providers who work with international equestrian Events.

Organising Committees who use a FEI Certified Service Provider will be guaranteed to fulfill all FEI specifications.

The names of the certified software and IT providers will be published on the FEI website for National Federations and Organising Committees to consult, which will assist them with the organisation of their Events.

How to become certified

You must fulfill the FEI criteria to become a "FEI Certified Endurance Timing System, Electronic Vet Gate & Tracking System" and/or a "FEI Certified Electronic Heart Rate Monitoring System" (coming soon). You will find the certification requirements at the bottom of the page.

If you meet all the requirements needed, you can send your application by filling out the relevant application form which you can also find at the bottom of the page.

If you are successful, you will then become "FEI Certified Endurance Timing System, Electronic Vet Gate & Tracking System" and/or "FEI Certified Electronic Heart Rate Monitoring System" (coming soon).

Costs and renewal

The certification procedure for the certification for Endurance Timing System, Electronic Vet Gate & Tracking System costs CHF 2'000.-. This covers the administrations fees of the certification. Additional costs are described in the "Criteria / Specifications for Certification" document.

The approval fee must be paid at the same time as you submit your application and a proof of payment must be sent by email to results@fei.org for your application to be valid.

If you are unsuccessful, you will be able to re-apply once more within twelve months following your first certification test. The cost for reapplication will depend on the specific part that needs to be re-evaluated.

The certification lasts 12 months; after 12 months you will need to renew the certification. This yearly renewal costs CHF 200.

The cost for the approval of Heart Rate monitors is not yet defined as this certification is not available for the moment.
