About the FEI
In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the FEI Sports Forum 2020 was completely reviewed in form and scope to solely address the time sensitive topics on the programme, namely the FEI Anti-Doping Rules for both human and equine athletes, which are being revised in 2020 for implementation on 1 January 2021.
Consultation with the community and feedback from our stakeholders is an important part of the FEI’s Rules Revision process, and while we were unable to host the Anti-Doping sessions at the Sports Forum in person, we have gathered all the key information and documentation here (simply click on the relevant tabs above) so that we can start the process and gather your input prior to the Rules Revision process which gets underway on 13 July. We highly recommend and encourage all concerned individuals and organisations - National Federations, Athletes and support team personnel, Veterinarians, Medical Officers, Coaches, Chefs d’Equipe, etc – to acquaint themselves with the Anti-Doping Rules and the (potential) changes for 2021 and give us their feedback!
We have included a number of questions and contact details in order to interact on all the key points, and we look forward to hearing from the community on these important rules, which are vital to the integrity of the sport and fair play.
The remaining sessions on the original Sports Forum programme, which included logistics and preparation around Tokyo 2020; Minimum Requirements; the Status of Grooms; and, the Role of the Coach, have all been deferred to the Sports Forum 2021. We look forward to discussing and debating these important topics together as a community and making the most of the FEI Sports Forum stage next year.

Welcome to this session hub dedicated to the changes to the FEI Anti-Doping Rules for Human Athletes (ADRHA). These changes, which for the most part are mandatory for the FEI under the World Anti-Doping Code (Code), will come into effect on 1 January 2021 and it is important for the entire equestrian community, and in particular National Federations, to be familiar with and prepared for the changes which will affect them.
We have extracted the key information necessary to help National Federations understand how these changes will impact their daily work and their processes in order to be compliant. And for everyone involved in the sport - from athletes and their support teams to medical officers - we have included checklists to help navigate through the transition phase with comprehensive fact sheets and summaries to ensure everyone has all the information at their fingertips to stay on track!
Note that this Sports Forum session pre-empts the customary Rules Revision process (click here) which gets underway on 13 July with the publication of the draft revised ADRHA for consultation with NFs and stakeholders in the build up to the FEI General Assembly 2020. Welcome to this session hub dedicated to the FEI Equine Anti-Doping Rules.
This year, the FEI Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulation will undergo a full review in line with the introduction of the new WADA Code on 1 January 2021. And, while some changes to the EADCMR will be mandatory to ensure that the FEI remains WADA compliant, the FEI has scope in some areas to adapt the rules to reflect the specificities of equestrian sport.
The objective of this session at the FEI Sports Forum is to gauge stakeholder feedback on the direction and scope of some of the proposed changes that arise in the context of the FEI’s implementation of the EADCMR and to identify potential changes that could be proposed to the FEI General Assembly in 2020.
It is important to clarify that this Sports Forum session does not replace the Rules Revision process for the EADCMR which will take place as usual and as per the dates set out below. This is a consultation exercise to provide the FEI with the community’s outlook on some of the key themes that will be covered in the EADCMR review.
We highly recommend and encourage all National Federations and stakeholders to review the information covered in this session hub and have their say. Consultation is a key part of the FEI’s governance process, and this is an additional opportunity to make our Rules Revision process even more robust and ensure the proposed rules reflect the community’s needs and expectations.
As you will see, we have broken down the session into distinct themes, and where relevant we have included questions where we are seeking YOUR input.
