Dear Delegate,
We look forward to welcoming you at FEI Hybrid General Assembly 2022 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Cape Town, South Africa from 10 – 13 November 2022. We hope this document will give you the information you need to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay in our country.

FEI HYBRID GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2022 VENUE
All meetings of this year’s General Assembly will be held at:

SECURITY
It is advisable to take the normal precautions, such as planning your route, not walking alone after dark, and keeping valuables out of sight whilst in South Africa.
The Westin and Waterfront hotels are within safe walking distance from the General Assembly venue.
South Africans drive on the left side of the road, and generally treat roundabouts (traffic circles) as 4-way stops. Be careful, look right before you cross the road!

TIME ZONE
The time zone in South Africa is South African Standard Time (SAST): GMT/ UTC+2
We are 6 hours ahead of New York and 2 hours ahead of the United Kingdom.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
November is seen as the month when summertime arrives in Cape Town. Days are generally hot with clear skies and temperatures often climb over 30°C. Rain is scarce and evenings are warm and pleasant. Please do pack a jacket for cooler weather. Current daily minimum and maximum temperatures are between 14°C and 26 °C.
For the meetings, we do recommend you dress in layers as temperatures in meeting rooms can vary.

CURRENCY
Local currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). Credit cards can be used for most expenses with Visa and Mastercard as the most commonly used cards in South Africa. Everything in South Africa must be paid in local currency. ATM’s are in abundance in the shopping malls and streets, for you to draw money. If you need to exchange currency, this can be done at the airport.

LANGUAGE
English
is well spoken by most locals.

TIPPING
Tipping is usually 10%.

POWER
Electricity supply is at 240 V and 50 Hz. Please note that most world travel adapters CANNOT convert to South African plugs, and you will need a specific adapter. Please refer to https://www.power-plugs-sockets.com/south-africa/ for further information. 

TRANSPORT
Uber
is fully operational via the Uber APP in Cape Town. The cost is extremely reasonable.
