Endurance - Different appointments of Officials for CEI’s on the same day

    Dear Endurance Officials,

In order to gain experience and speed up the promotion process, some officials cumulate roles during a day for different CEI categories at the same venue.

This kind of practice has its advantages, but also disadvantages. While it’s true that an Official gains experience in different roles, it’s also true that he/she doesn’t take decisions alone as there will be other senior officials involved in the decision making process which is an integral part of the learning process.

Therefore, in order to have a better grasp on the promotions to be approved by the FEI Endurance Department, the FEI Endurance Technical Committee have approved for trial period of six months, that requested promotions be approved only if the PGJ of the higher star ranking event of that day, makes a recommendation for the promotion.

The trial period will run from  1 January to 1 July 2016. Should the trial prove efficient and appropriate then it will be continued, and if not, other measures will be sought for the evaluation of promotions.

Endurance needs better equipped officials, and in order to do achieve this and increase the level of responsibility, a better evaluation system needs to be put in place.

Before the event starts the PGJ will receive a form to be completed and returned signed to the FEI Endurance Department. Without this form duly received at the FEI, no promotion will be possible based on events were officials have officiated in the same day in more than one CEI.

Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the FEI Endurance team.

    With kind regards,

    Manuel Bandeira de Mello

Endurance - Athlete medical report form
Following the recommendation of the FEI Medical Committee, the FEI Endurance Technical Committee will begin a survey for Endurance Athletes Injuries in line with the other FEI disciplines.

As of 1 October 2015, a medical report form will be provided to the Medical Doctor or the Medical Services of each Endurance FEI event to be completed and returned to the FEI Endurance Department.

This medical form does not require any procedure or signature from the FEI Officials at the event, solely from the Medical Doctor or the Medical Services team at the event.

The Organisers of FEI Endurance Events will be asked to give an e-mail address in the draft schedule of the Medical Doctor or the Medical Services team. The relevant persons will then be required to return the form to the FEI Endurance Department to the following e-mail camilla.kjellqvist@fei.org within 5 days following the event.

In case the Medical Doctor or the Medical Services do not have an e-mail address, this will be done through the Event Director.

The aim of this survey is to identify what sort of athlete injuries are most common in Endurance events, so that in the future we can prevent or react in a more effective way.

You can find the medical form here

Endurance - Exchange Programme for FEI Officials

Endurance can now apply to the “Exchange Programme for FEI Officials”.

The FEI recognises the need for FEI Officials to gain experience through officiating at events on a higher level than those available in their own countries. To enable National Federations to enhance the level of their officials (but not for status maintenance purposes) the FEI has developed this programme.

Its purpose is to assist National Federations and FEI Officials in gaining access to events and becoming official members of the respective team of Officials.

The Exchange Programme is available for all Officials in all FEI Disciplines, with the exception of Eventing, where a separate training programme has been set up.

Please have a look at the related documents.
