Following the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) announcement of its renewed partnership with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and IMG through to the end of 2022, the FEI has now signed a second major multi-year broadcast deal inside a week.
The new six-year agreement with Sky Mexico not only secures the long term on-screen presence of equestrian sport across Mexico and the emerging Central American and Caribbean regions, but also substantially increases coverage of the FEI’s Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines in these territories.
The renewed cooperation with Sky Mexico, which is separate to the FEI’s deal with IMG announced last week, covers the affiliates that come under the Sky Mexico umbrella in Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panamá.
The agreement, which was brokered with the support of IMG, comes with substantial coverage for the FEI’s different broadcast products, including hundreds of hours of broadcast time for the world’s most important and popular equestrian circuits such as the FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping, FEI World Cup™ Jumping, Dressage and Driving series, the FEI Classics™ and the FEI World Cup™ Vaulting Finals.
Also included in the package are the 2018 running of the FEI’s flagship event, the FEI World Equestrian Games™, and the biennial FEI European Championships in the Olympic disciplines of Jumping, Dressage and Eventing in 2015, 2017, and 2019.
“Our sport is getting bigger and the world is getting smaller as we increase our coverage in traditional territories and expand into developing ones with agreements like the one with Sky Mexico”, FEI Secretary General Ingmar De Vos said. “This new agreement documents the successful relationship with our main broadcast partner in the region and clearly expresses our shared confidence in the bright future and further development of our sport.
“We are very much looking forward to a close partnership with the channel and to proactively building the sport’s potential in the different countries. We are excited to have strong and committed partners in these Latin American territories through Sky Mexico and its affiliates.”
