For the start of the 2010 Eventing season, the Event Riders Association (ERA), the official organisation representing riders throughout the sport, has launched a new website (www.eventridersassociation.org) that aims to bring together riders at all levels, professional or amateur, national or international, giving them ‘one voice’ when it comes to the sport of Eventing.
Chairman of ERA, Francis Whittington commented “Over the last decade and before, there have been many attempts to create a group or association with an aim to represent the riders of every competitive nation to the national federations and the FEI. This year the next generation will step up to the mark and begin the climb to fulfilling this task of creating one voice from the many riders that participate in our sport at an international level.”
He went on to say “Our first aim is to encourage rider responsibility and an improved system of communication through which we can put our views to the relevant associations or federations. We want to be proactive in the decision making that determines the direction of our sport. Through this web site we hope to gain the trust and thoughts of the many athletes who still have so much to give.”
On the new ERA site you will find a list of all the international events. You will be able to give feedback, through this site, to the events and in turn the organiser will be able to post a comment on their recent event. If there is further discussion needed you will be able to post your point on the ERA Forum. Any discussion topic is welcome and the use of the forums will be encouraged as this is the perfect medium for us to share our views on the sport and events around the world.
Further to the Forums, if there is a subject that needs particular attention and support, there is a facility to raise an e-petition that can be signed and supported by members from all over the world. On completion we will present it to the relevant association.
In addition, with the aim of being a single portal for information relating to the sport, there will be access to, amongst others, FEI Press Releases, Doping Information plus Rules & Regulations.
The new website will belong to the competitors of every nation, with links to each of the associated organisations throughout the world. It will, however, be subject to constant review as we strive to deliver features that its members demand. The website will become the one point of reference and communication with others in the sport and, used in a constructive manner, will become ‘One Voice’ for the Eventing community.
