With over twenty countries expected to participate, reiners world wide have qualified or are getting ready to qualify for the second edition of the $100,000 FEI World Reining Masters Series presented by the Arcese Group and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE) in collaboration with the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), the Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).

The much awaited for finals will be held at the Palasturla in Manerbio, Italy, on September 24th and to date Austria, Germany, Israel and Italy have officially determined who will represent their countries.

Once again last year’s Open Division bronze medal winner Rudi Kronsteiner, will be representing Austria. For Germany, it will be Steffen Breug and Jurgen Pieper. Breug, who had qualified for the finals last year held in Oklahoma City, will also be competing the second time around. Israel’s Rafi Ungar will be representing his country and following the qualifying CRI held on July 24th in Manerbio, Italy, Adriano Meacci and Andrea Fappani will be riding for their country. Both riders showed three horses and the competition was won by Meacci. Andrea, who flew to Italy especially to show, claimed second place honours.

Both in Great Britain and in Switzerland, qualifying CRI for the 2005 FEI World Reining Masters Series will be held this coming weekend. This will be the only CRI for Great Britain while in Switzerland the third and last qualifier will be offered. At the moment Jeannette Krahenbuhl, last years’ Restricted Division gold medalist, is leading the rankings.

The first ever FEI World Reining Masters Final took place in Oklahoma City (USA) last year with two categories: Open (all nations) and Restricted (only nations that did not participate in the 2002 WEG final). Todd Crawford (USA) astride Matt Dillon Dun It was the winner in the Open category; Jeannette Kraehenbuehl (SUI) on ARC Golden Boy won the restricted category.

The FEI Reining Masters is a competition defining the best individual Reiner each year. It is based on qualifying the best Reiner from each NF for a final event which alternates between the USA and Europe. The finals of will offer a $75,000 Open and a $25,000 Restricted division. The first is open to all riders, the Restricted division will only be open to those Countries who did not qualify for the finals at the 2002 World Equestrian Games (WEG) held in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, therefore U.S.A, Canada, Great Britain, Italy and Germany will only be able to compete in the Open division and will be allowed to send two riders, all other countries are eligible to compete with one qualified rider.
