For over six decades, we have held FEI World Championships, crowning the world’s very best athletes and building a lasting legacy for equestrianism each step of the way with iconic heroes and unforgettable sporting moments. In 1990, all the FEI’s World Championships were united under one flagship event – the FEI World Equestrian Games™ – and every four years since then we have gathered to celebrate the very best of our sport and the diversity of the equestrian landscape in one unique location! As you know, we had already opened the bidding process for WEG 2022 on two occasions, starting in 2016, but due to the success of our sport and the resulting increase of the size and the scale of WEG, we were unable to find a suitable candidate that met all the requirements. This is why we have reopened the bidding process for 2022, only now with a more flexible approach allowing for individual and/or combined discipline bids.
