Provisonal lists of riders for the FEI European Jumping Championship released

The provisional list of riders which will be competing at San Patrignano’s FEI European Championship from 21 to 24 July was released on 23 June. As it currently appears, twenty three nations will compete for the title of European Champion, currently held by Germany. Some countries will only send individual riders to San Patrignano, including the Czech Republic, Finland, Israel, Portugal, Estonia and Ukraine. Christian Ahlmann (GER) and Cöster are the title holders after the 2003 Championship in Donaueschingen.

The definite entries will be confirmed on 8 July. Each team is allowed to bring five riders, even though only four will be eligible to compete for the Championship. Coaches will have until 20 July to select the members of their teams. At this point, each National Federation has a long list of ten riders as possible candidates for the Championship. Jerry Smit was selected for the Italian team with Nadir, a horse bred and owned by the Rimini-based community.
