Owners Club metin Aachen on 27 August 2005

The inaugural meeting of the FEI Jumping Owners Club was attended by thirteen owners. Capt. John Roche informed those present that although the idea of creating an Owners Club was originally put forward approximately ten years ago, it is only in the past two years that there has been sufficient support and interest to start the ball rolling, and the Club was officially introduced in 2005. The FEI feels that owners are a very important ingredient in the equestrian world, and recognises the fact that without them, there would not be much equestrian sport. Unlike other equestrian sports such as racing or trotting, not enough has been done for owners at international events. The FEI would now like to rectify this situation and give the owners the respect they deserve.

After detailing the aims of the club and the different types of membership (active and passive), Capt. Roche explained that the primary goal at present is to increase membership and later elect a board to oversee the Club’s activities.

Those present greeted the introduction of the Owners Club with enthusiasm and applause, and look forward to a close cooperation with the FEI. It was agreed that another meeting of owners should take place at an international event in the near future. The exact date and venue will be decided shortly.
