Dr. Elena Petushkova (RUS), vice-president of the Russian Equestrian Federation and Olympic medallist, passed away on 8 January after a hard and long illness.
Dr. Elena Petushkova’s devotion to equestrian sport and talent as a Dressage rider have been confirmed on many an occasion, with silver and gold medals at the Olympic Games of 1968 and 1972; gold, silver and bronze medals at the World and European Championships; as well as 13 times National Champion of former U.S.S.R.
Following her sporting career, Dr. Petushkova devoted much of her time to promoting and developing Dressage in Russia, working at all levels, as a member of the FEI Dressage Committee from 1978 – 1982, International FEI Dressage Judge and as FEI Bureau Member and Group EEA Chairman from 1995-2004. Her contributions to the sport both internationally and in Russia are immeasurable.
A commemorative ceremony took place on 11 January in Moscow.
