Arab World Cup League successfully inaugurated in Lattakia

The first edition of the Arab World Cup League, which took place on Friday 21 August in Lattakia (SYR), gave the honours to Karim Emile Fares from Lebanon and his Dutch mare Cash Only.

After qualifying the day before, along with 14 league riders from Egypt (6), Jordan (1), Lebanon (2) and Syria (5), Karim Emile Fares and the courageous Cash Only gave it all to grab the title with a double clear and the best time in the second round. Placed second and third were Alaa Maysara on Karta and Amer Majdi on Legat, both from Egypt.

The opening event of the Arab World Cup League in Lattakia gave the newly formed league a wonderful start. Resting on one of the most beautiful Mediterranean strips, the Olympic facility at Lattakia was ready for the first event of its kind in the Arab world. With the thorough attention to details of the highly experienced President of the Jury Wilfried Herkommer, and the wit and creativity of the talented Course Designer Rakshan Radpour who always asked the right questions, the World Cup Competition of Lattakia proved to be an event worthy of the title.

The only set-back, apart from the heat and humidity at this time of the year, was the lower-than-expected number of participants: Fifteen Riders from 4 Nations. This was mainly due to the fact that a large number of horses and riders from the Arab League were either in Athens for the Olympics or camping-out in Europe for the summer season.

The next CSI-W part of the Arab League has just been organized in Faqra, Lebanon on the first week of September.
