After a short reign in August, interrupted by Ludger Beerbaum who took the lead of the world's rankings at the end of September, Brazilian Rodrigo Pessoa is back to the Top of the FEI Gandini World Riders Rankings. The Olympic silver medallist earned 57 points at the second FEI World Cup leg of the Western European League in Helsinki (FIN) and 155 at the CSI 3* of Affalterbach (GER), where he won the Grand Prix.

Rodrigo Pessoa is among the 5 best riders of the world for a number of years, and was the World Rankings leader during 14 months from November 1999 to December 2000.

With a total of 2724 points, Pessoa has 155 points more than his runner-up, the German rider Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER), who just slipped into second position in front of her brother in law Ludger Beerbaum. The German lady rider earned 60 points at CSI 4* Arezzo (ITA), 120 points at the opening show of the FEI World Cup season in Oslo where she finished 3rd in the Grand Prix and 125 more in Helsinki.

Robert Smith (GBR) performance over the last few months allowed him to jump up from the 15th position in August to 6th at the end of August. He earned no less than 165 points at Kuala Lumpur (MAS) where he finished 5th in the Grand Prix.
