The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) launches its Top 50 Moments of 2014 today and equestrian fans are being encouraged to support the campaign.

The IPC Top 50 Moments campaign will feature daily key moments based on their impact on the Paralympic movement, with the biggest moment of the year due to be revealed on 31 December.

Each of the moments, which were selected by a specialist panel from nominations made by National Paralympic Committees and International Federations, will feature on this dedicated link www.paralympic.org/top-50-moments-2014, with images and videos of these moments also revealed on social media.

The FEI is encouraging fans to interact with the Top 50 Moments campaign on the International Paralympic Committee’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube feeds using the hashtag #IPCTop50 and recommends daily checks to see whether equestrian sport features. There will also be regular updates on the IPC’s Top 50 Moments on the FEI’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds.

“We are urging everyone with a passion for the Paralympic Movement and para sport to support the International Paralympic Committee’s Top 50 Moment campaign alongside the FEI on social media to raise awareness of our amazing athletes, as well as the community that supports our athletes on their journey,” said Trond Asmyr, FEI Director, Dressage and Para-Equestrian Dressage.

“This is a superb opportunity for everyone to come together on social media to celebrate the Paralympic Games, which have now grown into the world’s third biggest sporting event, and help to spread the word on the great work of the IPC, which last month celebrated its 25th anniversary.”

The FEI was one of the first International Federations to govern and regulate international para sport, alongside its seven able-bodied disciplines, when Para-Equestrian Dressage joined its ranks in 2006.

The FEI now governs all international competitions for Para-Equestrian Dressage, which has been a regular fixture at the Paralympic Games since 1996 and which joined the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in 2010, and Para-Driving.
