Antigua (Caribbean), June 2007

The best of both worlds came together! The Caribbean with its sights, sounds, unique flavours and people that just know how to enjoy a good day out, combined with a dedicated organising committee that shows just how professional a show can be regardless of circumstance or resources.

The Antigua & Barbuda leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Associations Jr. Show Jumping Challenge was truly a successful event with major Jump sponsors and Sponsors plying their trade at the event, supplying spectators with quality Australian ice cream, South African wines, Pimms and an amazing Antiguan Style Bar and BBQ! Horse, pet products and plants were on sale for those wanting to browse during course changes.

It is aptly named a challenge as each of the six island countries’ in the Association host an event each year. Three visiting teams of two young riders, together with their coach visit the hosting country and ride the host country’s horses over four different courses over 2 days. It’s an exciting format and the riders get to know a little of their Caribbean neighbours and make new friends along the way.

This is an event that has been gradually growing year on year in Antigua, proving that Equestrian sport is truly an exciting sport for spectator and rider. Exposure is the key! Endurance is the way!
