Great Britain's John Whitaker and America's Will Simpson share pole position on the Leading Rider of the Samsung Super League with FEI 2008 leaderboard going into the penultimate leg of the series in Dublin, Ireland this week. Points are awarded on the basis of one point for one clear round and three points for a double-clear performance and, from four starts, John Whitaker collected three points at the second leg in Rome, Italy and a single point at the each of the next two rounds in St Gallen, Switzerland and Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Rome was also a double-point earner for Simpson who has made only three appearances and it was at the Italian venue that the American went into a third-round head-to-head with Whitaker - the latter sealing victory in the coolest of style. Belgium's Jos Lansink, Switzerland's Pius Schwizer and Great Britain's Tim Stockdale lie joint-third with four points apiece at this stage, but there are still two chances remaining for others to overtake the current leaders. The Dublin leg takes place at the Royal Dublin Society showgrounds on Friday 8 August and the series final, with double-points up for grabs for all teams, will be played out at the Real Club de Polo in Barcelona, Spain on 21 September.
