Brazil wins the ultimate event of the 2005 season. Sweden is promoted to Samsung Super League status

The last competition of the Samsung Nations Cup Series took place on 11 November 2005 in the beautiful surroundings of the Haras El Capricho, 70 km away of Buenos Aires (ARG).

Teams from Argentina, Brazil and Chile participated on a course built by Olympic course designer Olaf Petersen. The home team dominated the first round with just one time penalty from both Lucas Werthein on Warren and Martin Dopazo on El Capricho Nalvaro, and finished with 10 points, after the 8 faults of Luis Magnasco and Gregorio Werthein’s 13 points which were discarded as the drop score.

At the end of the first round, only 6 points separated Argentina from Brazil (16), while the third placed team was only one point away on 17, which promised a very open second round.

To the consternation of the spectators, the home team collapsed in the second round, and the faultless performance from Luis Magnasco was not sufficient to secure victory. Lucas Werthein and Dopazo scored a disappointing total of 9 points each to finish on a total of 18 points in the second round, and and overall score of 28 points.

Both the Brazilian and Chilean teams improved their score in the second round with one clear round by Karina Harbich Johannpeter (BRA) on O de Pomme de Joter and another clear by Carlos Milthaler (CHI) and Aventino Miraflores. With 9 points in the second round and an overall total of 25 points, Brazil won the competition ahead of Chile (27) and Argentina (28).

The 2005 season of the Samsung Nations Cup Series included 19 events and was won by Sweden who finished with 40 points, ahead of Italy (28) and Austria (25). Twenty-five nations participated in the Series, and 17 obtained points. Sweden is promoted to the Samsung Super League for the 2006 season, replacing Belgium which was relegated after the Samsung Super League final event in Barcelona last September.
