In Memoriam: Markus Mändli passed away

Former international jumping rider, course director and trainer, Markus Mändli (SUI) passed away last Thursday 8 September further to a heart failure. He was 52.

Born in Schaffhausen (SUI), Markus Mändli was a recognised horse specialist and dealer. National Swiss champion in 1965in the Junior category, Mändli was part of the international elite in the 70’s and 80’s, and participated in a number of Nations Cups as a member of the Swiss team. Later, Mändli became a reputed trainer, and even after his cerebral haemorrhage that left him disabled in 1999, he continued to attend equestrian events, where his precious advices were always sought. Elder brother of successful international rider Beat Mändli, Markus was for him a friend, a support and a trainer.
