Danish gold in singles

Danish Peter Koux and his pony Taffy have won the FEI World Driving Championship for singles after a very tight race with Anne-Christine Arvidsson from Sweden, who took the silver medal. The bronze went to Sarah Howe, Great Britain.

Peter Koux was in second position with 1.99 points after Anne-Christine Arvidsson after the marathon. However, with a clear round in today’s cones Koux laid maximal pressure on the shoulders of his Swedish friend who unfortunately took one cone at the very end of the course – and thereby lost her gold medal.

The home ground triumph for Peter Koux is total as he also won the cone competition itself with the clear round and a very fast time – his second discipline win next to the Thursday’s dressage.

Maciej Forecki from Poland came second in the cones, while Maxime Maricourt from France came third – both with a clear round, but a few seconds slower than Koux.

Today’s cones course was very technically difficult where the drivers were challenged on their abilities to fast changes of pace and narrow gates. The course also included a build up bridge, which caused problems for several drivers.
