Marcus Ehning Number one for the second consecutive month

With 2899 points, Marcus Ehning (GER) is the World Number One according to the FEI Gandini World Jumping Riders Rankings No 56, including events until 31 August 2005.

The German rider dropped 120 points from August 2004, but largely compensated them during August 2005. Ehning earned 295 points, mainly at CSI5* Valkenswaard (NED), where he finished 6th in the Grand Prix with Anka and at CSI3* Hachenburg (GER).

Sixty-nine points behind, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER) keeps the runner-up’s position after having won 240 points for her victory in the Grand Prix of Aachen with Shutterfly, and having finished 3rd in the Grand Prix of CSI3* Münster (GER).

Swiss Markus Fuchs goes up two places and now lies third, 270 points behind Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum. In Valkenswaard, Fuchs won the Derby with Silver II and finished 5th in the Grand Prix with La Toya.

Ludger Beerbaum (GER) keeps his 4th position thanks to his 135 points earned in Valkenswaard and 75 points more in Aachen. He lost all his Olympic points further to his disqualification confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last Monday.

Rodrigo Pessoa dropped no less than 375 points from last year, and did not earn enough points in August to compensate the huge deficit, despite his very good performance in Aachen with Richmond Park and Baloubet. Brazilian Olympic champion goes down from 3rd to 6th position.

Two US riders enter the Top Ten this month: Laura Kraut (9) and McLain Ward (10). Both were part of the US team which won the prestigious Prize of Mercedes-Benz, part of the Samsung Super League.

The Top Ten is clearly dominated by Germany and includes five riders of this nationality. 1705 riders from all over the World collected points for the FEI Gandini World Jumping Riders Rankings.
