The contract between the global animal health company Alltech and the World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc. for the title sponsorship of the 2010 FEI GamesTM was signed today 19 June during a special ceremony, held at the Alltech International Headquarters in Kentucky (USA). The sponsorship fee amounts to USD 10 million. It is the first time in the history of this competition that an agreement of this type and magnitude has been made.

In attendance were Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher, Dr Pearse Lyons, President of Alltech, Inc., Jim Host and Jack Kelly, Chairman and CEO of Alltech FEI GamesTM 2010 respectively. The FEI was represented by Michael Stone, Acting Secretary General, and Christophe Troendle, Commercial Director. The FEI President, HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, made a special appearance by videolink.

The Alltech FEI GamesTM will be the sixth edition of the equestrian world’s greatest event. They will be held from 20 September to 3 October 2010 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington (USA). Horses and riders from over 50 countries will compete in the eight disciplines that make up the FEI GamesTM, including Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Driving, Endurance, Vaulting, Reining and, for the first time in concurrence with the other seven, Para-Equestrian. Lexington will be the first city outside of Europe to host the event. The Alltech FEI Games TM are expected to attract more than 500,000 visitors to Kentucky in 2010.

Alltech, one of the world’s leading animal health companies, was founded in 1980 in Kentucky by Dr Pearse Lyons, a scientist, who envisaged using natural yeast fermentation and natural enzyme technology as the driving force for providing new alternative technologies for the animal feed industry. From a turnover of one million dollars in the first year of operation, the company has taken commanding positions in the food and feed sector. Today, with offices in 85 countries, Alltech is growing at a rate of 20% per annum and has a current turnover in excess of USD 300 million.

The World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit corporation established to oversee the production of the 2010 FEI Games™.

“Seeing equestrian sport performed at its pinnacle, against the backdrop of the Kentucky Horse Park, enhanced by the backing of Alltech’s international reputation in the field of animal health and performance, will be a great inspiration,” the FEI President declared.

The ceremony was broadcast live on the FEI website. The recorded version is available on demand from the homepage of www.horsesport.org.
