FRA NF feedback : WEG - Endurance

Please find below the French Equestrian Federation comments regarding FEI proposal for Endurance WEG format.

First of all, the best future for the Endurance discipline will be achieved by keeping the aim of Endurance and applying perfectly the rules with very strong sanctions for those who try to destroy this discipline by unacceptable behaviour. These behaviours are damaging the entire equestrian community, not only to the endurance.

Rules can both protect horses and make succeding the top sport, this is not incompatible. No drop score for Endurance discipline cannot be the right choice.
Endurance competition is "a long way on outside natural tracks" and so it's not possible to manage outside elements (natural footing, stones...) as well as it is possible to do it in other disciplines. The drop score give the chance to a national team to be impacted by outside elements without loosing the opportunity to be ranked in the team ranking.
Moreover and unlike others discipline, the biggest number of eliminations in Endurance are coming from decisions which can be unfortunatelly subjectives during vet check.

Following these remarks, French Equestrian Federation does not support proposals mentionned in the document "Endurance format" and suggests to keep WEG and other championships format like it is nowadays.

The only compromise that we could support would be :
- individual competition : 160km, 2 combinations/NF
- team competition : 160km, 3 combinations/NF, the 2 best results count and 1 drop score
