FEI Reining

Reining is the Wild West – exciting, fast and furious – where athletes and horses deliver spectacular, breathtaking performances true to the traditions of cowboy showmanship. The combination of tremendous technique and agility is mixed with a hint of nostalgic bravado and laid-back swagger.

FEI Reining European Championships for Seniors and FEI Reining World Championships for Juniors and Young Riders, Givrins (SUI)

It was a return to the beautiful CS Ranch for the FEI European and World Championships 2019. Many new contenders including several former Young Riders now competing at senior level, made their way to the show arena aiming for gold.

The cards were reshuffled in the European Senior Championships when Belgium did not bring a team to defend its title, leaving the door wide open for the 2017 silver medallists Germany to take gold ahead of Italy and Switzerland. Individual gold also went to Germany when Grischa Ludwig and Coeurs Little Tyke became the freshly-crowned European champions ahead of Adrienne Speidel (SUI) and Lorenzo de Simone (ITA).

The USA did not leave any room for other nations on the World Junior podiums, taking team gold and all three medals in the individual with Raeanna Thayn (Coded N Karma) winning gold, Sarah Armenta (Gun Smoke Dennis) in silver and Emma Lane (Gunner Gump) with bronze.

Bronze medallist at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2018, Cade McCutcheon (USA) paired up with Smart Little Dunnit, to be crowned the new world champion in the young riders category. He also won bronze with team USA right behind France and the new world champions, Germany.
