Decision of the FEI Judicial Committee

A panel of the FEI Judicial Committee held a hearing today in the matter of the positive medication case involving Kai Vorberg (GER).

Mr Vorberg, whose horse had tested positive to the prohibited substance betamethasone at the World Vaulting Championships in Stadl Paura AUT) from 4 to 8 August 2004, and his team mate Kirsten Graf, the lunger for the horse, successfully argued that Ms Graf had been denied an opportunity to attend the initial sampling of the horse at the event.

The FEI panel, composed of Messrs. Erik Elstad and Philip O’Connor and Ms. Helen Huggett, found that the flaw in the initial sampling was of a fundamental nature and could not be remedied at a later date, and that the FEI had a duty to exercise its jurisdiction in conformity with its regulations. As a result, the panel terminated the proceedings after hearing the evidence presented by the parties.

The full decision of the FEI Judicial Committee panel will be made available soon on the FEI website.
