New FEI website dedicated to FEI World Cup activities

The FEI is pleased to announce the creation of a dedicated website for the FEI World Cup activities: www.feiworldcup.org. Information on the FEI World Cup of Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Driving, will be centralized on that new website.

With links to events organisers, calendar, media guide, results, latest news and other useful information, www.feiworldcup.org will soon become a cross points for all FEI World Cup fans around the world.

The FEI World Cup Jumping website was launched early October at the start of the Western European League season, which comprises a total of 13 qualifying legs. In an historic move, the final of the FEI World Cup Jumping will take place in Kuala Lumpur in April 2006. Malaysia is the first country outside Western Europe and the USA to stage such a prestigious and important equestrian event.

Initiated in 1985, the FEI World Cup Dressage is the only annual worldwide linked series in this discipline. It consists of five qualifying leagues encompassing Western and Central Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia. Each FEI World Cup qualifier comprises a Grand Prix test, which in turn is a qualification for the Freestyle to Music competition, where league points are accumulated towards places in the FEI World Cup Dressage Final, which will take place in Amsterdam in April 2006. The FEI World Cup Dressage website has been opened this afternoon and is being fine-tuned at the moment.

Introduced in 2001, the FEI World Cup Driving has provided an innovative and exciting new style of competition for indoor events, with courses combining marathon and cones driving obstacles. The Series immediately found its public and was enthusiastically received by crowds of spectators at the hosting venues. The 2005/2006 Indoor World Cup season consists of seven qualifiers organised in Western Europe. The FEI World Cup Driving website will open tonight.

It had been a longstanding ambition of the FEI’s to establish a linked series in Eventing. Thanks to the visionary thinking of Jack Le Goff, the consistent efforts of the FEI Technical Committee, and the staunch support of event organisers, the FEI Eventing World Cup became reality in August 2002. The 2005/2006 Final will take place in Malmö (SWE) in July 2006. The FEI World Cup Eventing website will open within the coming days.

In addition, the FEI offers a special press service for the FEI World Cup in each discipline, with full report and results sent out by email to subscribers immediately after the event. The FEI World Cup Press service can count on the talent of professional journalists specialized in their respective discipline. Subscription to the press service can be made online either on the FEI website www.horsesport.org or on www.feiworldcup.com
