Swedish riders nominated to sports gala

The Swedish Olympic riders have been nominated to the Swedish sports equivalent of the Oscars.

The bronze medal winning team with Malin Baryard, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Peder Fredricson and Peter Eriksson are nominated in category Best team of the year. The other three nominees are the Swedish Olympic canoe team, the Swedish speedway team and the Swedish Olympic sailing team.

Rolf-Göran Bengtsson is also nominated as Male Sportsman of the year. Among the other three nominees are two gold medal winners and a silver medal winner from Athens, Stefan Holm and Christian Olsson, both in track and field, and wrestler Ara Abrahamian. Isabel Reid,

The Sports gala takes place on 17 January in the Globe Arena in Stockholm. The winners in all categories will be held under wraps until then. The Sports Gala is broadcast live on Swedish national television.
