Mia Allo (BEL), a well-known FEI driver, official and president of the Belgian Equestrian Federation Driving Committee, passed away recently after a long illness at the age of 61. Allo and her flamboyant team of palomino ponies had represented Belgium at many FEI World and European Driving Championships.

Mia Allo inherited her love of horses from her father Willy Allo who had been an active equestrian and an expert in antique carriages for many years. She followed in her father’s footsteps at the family’s stable Peerdshof, in Nieuwenrode, Belgium, which was kept in impeccable condition.

Allo represented Belgium at the FEI World Championships seven times beginning with Breda (NED) in 1995. She was crowned Belgian champion on several occasions.

In 2010 she was accredited as an FEI judge.

The FEI expresses its sincere condolences to Mia Allo’s family and friends and to the Belgian equestrian community.
