OLYMPIC CASE WATERFORD CRYSTAL /CIAN O’CONNOR (IRL)

Full decision of the Judicial Committee now published
On 23 May, the FEI Judicial Committee published its full decision in the case relating to the findings of prohibited substances in the horse Waterford Crystal, ridden by Cian O’Connor at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

The preliminary decision on that case was communicated on 27 March 2005 (FEI Press News 11/05). Following a hearing held on that day in Zurich (SUI), the Judicial Committee had decided on the disqualification from the 2004 Olympic Games and a suspension of a period of 3 months. Cian O’Connor was a member of the Irish Team which finished 7th in the Olympic Jumping Competitions and won the individual gold medal.

The procedure for the re-distribution of the individual medals will be decided with the International Olympic Committee in due course.

The full decision is published today on the FEI website, section legal/Judicial Committee.
