Update from Czeck Republic, France and Mexico 

FEI WORLD REINING MASTERS

CZECH REPUBLIC
Czech Republic sends Lucas Jirak to Oklahoma City

On 13 October was held the only qualifier of Czech Republic, which took place in Celadna. Klara Salkova and her 7-year-old bay stallion Smart Chiconita won the class scoring 143,5. Smart Chiconita is by Smart Chic Olena and out of One More Memory. Lukas Jirak and Pokeys Easter Star placed second scoring 138 points. He also placed fourth astride Olena Steppin Smart, scoring 134,5. Karel Barotek astride Miss Bobby Jac Scoot (owner P.
Julina) placed third scoring 135,5.

With two horses in the competition, Lukas Jirak scored the highest total prize money and will therefore be the finalist for Oklahoma City.

18-year-old Lukas Jirak is one of the most talented young riders in Czech Republic. He started riding horses in 2002 and began his reining career in 2003, winning the year-end CZRHA champion title in Youth reining (riding Little Lady Del Maso) and tying for third place during the CZRHA Championship. He also won the Youth reining class during the CZQHA Show. In 2004 Lukas won the Championship title in Amateur reining during the Western Riding Club of Czech Rep. Championship Show and he placed fifth in Senior reining. Lukas says that his mentors are Grischa Ludwig and Rudi Kronsteiner. During the whole season Lukas was riding three horses: Elite Queen, Olena Steppin Smart and Pokeys Easter Star. With two of them he came to Celadna for the CRI. Pokeys Easter Star is a 9-year-old mare by Pokalito. Olena Steppin Smart (owner: R. Jirak) is well known to reining enthusiasts in Europe. This 8-year-old sorrel gelding by Valedoctorian and out of Freckles Tootsie was trained by Grischa Ludwig, who placed with him fifth in the European Reined Cow Horse Futurity 2001. Olena Steppin Smart also was DQHA Futurity Champion in Working Cow Horse in 2002.

FRANCE
Franck Perret will represent France in Oklahoma City

The French representative for the World Reining Masters Final 2004 will be Franck Perret. Franck who is operating Montana Ranch in Normandy is one of the best reiners of France. Hes a member of the French National Reining team and competed as an individual rider in the World Equestrian Games 2002 in Jerez, Spain.


MEXICO
Javier Álvarez Malo wins Qualifier in Mexico

Javier Álvarez Malo will represent Mexico at the FEI World Reining Masters Final. Astride Hot Little Line he won the qualifier in Bajio scoring 72 points. José Luis Briceño and JE Dick Comanche placed second (70,5 points), Gretel H. de Valdés and Don Porfirio third (69,5 points).

Javier (48) was born in Mexico City, but lives in Queretaro now. He is a Veterinarian graduated from the Mexican National University UNAM, specializing on horses. Hes been involved with horses since he was a kid, first riding the Mexican style, the Charro. In 1985, Javier started started riding reining horses in California and Texas in 1985.

The 1st FEI International Reining event at the Bajio 2004 was the first CRI Event Category B in Mexico. The event had 47 competitors. We are looking forward to being at the Futurity now and cheering our champion in the World Masters Series, says José Luis de Valdés from the Reining Committee of the Mexican Equestrian Association.
