2004 Olympic Games: Update on positive medication case

The Judicial Committee decided on the disqualification of the horse Foxxy XX and the person responsible (“PR”), the rider Harald Riedl, from the 2004 Olympic Games. The sampled taken at the event in the frame of the FEI medication control programme had revealed the presence of the prohibited substance flunixin in the horse Foxxy XX.


A fine of CHF 1,000.- was imposed on Mr Riedl, who is also is liable to pay CHF 1,000.- towards the costs of the judicial procedure and CHF 750.- for the confirmatory analysis.

Upon receipt of the detailed decision of the Judicial Committee, Mr Riedl will have 30 days to appeal it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Harald Riedl was a member of Austrian Team which finished 13th of the Eventing Competition of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (GRE) and placed 58th individually.
