Longines and the FEI– A year of spectacular sporting moments
The enduring partnership between Longines and the FEI thrived once again in 2023, showcasing the Swiss watch brand’s unwavering commitment to equestrian sports. After 11 years, this collaboration continues to consolidate and is stronger than ever.
In its role as Official Timekeeper of most of the FEI’s flagship Jumping events, Longines not only bore witness to remarkable sporting achievements but also reaffirmed its leading position in the field.
One notable example was the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final 2023 held in Omaha (USA), where the winged hourglass brand meticulously recorded the results of some of the world’s elite combinations. As Title Partner, Official Timekeeper, and Official Watch of this prestigious event, Longines celebrated the stunning victory of Swedish star athlete Henrik Von Eckermann and his loyal equine partner, King Edward. The event also provided the perfect platform to welcome Juna Keselj Djokovic, the 13-year-old winner of the “My Dream Jump Challenge,” and to showcase her specially designed obstacle.
As the season continued to unfold, the FEI Jumping European Championship in Milan (ITA) witnessed the Swedish team basking in the glory of securing the highly coveted gold medal at the Hippodrome Snai San Siro, where Ireland and Austria claimed silver and bronze.
Another significant milestone in 2023 was the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ Final in Barcelona (ESP), where the German team emerged as the proud champions. This Final served as a pivotal moment in the history of Jumping, as it led to the launch of the newly established Longines League of Nations™. This innovative series, which came to life out of a solid cooperation between Longines and the FEI, features a unique, unified, and global competition format, taking the sport to a new level. With the top 10 teams competing at four qualifying events around the world, and the best eight teams proceeding to the Final, this new series will see all athletes vying for ultimate national glory.
The year once again culminated with the glamorous FEI Awards Gala presented by Longines in vibrant Mexico City (MEX). Since 2009, this key event has honoured and celebrated personalities and organisations in equestrian sport, whether on or off the playing field. At this edition, Longines recognised the extraordinary potential and success of promising young talents in equestrian sport aged between 14 and 21, presenting American jumping athlete Mimi Gochman with the Longines FEI Rising Star Award 2023.
With its enduring passion for the equestrian world, Longines continues to strive for excellence, eagerly anticipating its role in countless more unforgettable sporting moments alongside fans, athletes, and its esteemed long-term partner, the FEI.
