The 18th edition of the FEI Endurance World Championship, first held in 1986, featured a remarkably gender balanced field of participants, with 63 female and 66 male athletes entered, representing 37 nations.

Crowned Team world champions for the first time at the postponed FEI Endurance World Championship 2022 held in Butheeb (UAE), Bahrain was subsequently stripped of the title following the post-event disqualification of one of their team horses, leaving them with only two combination results not the three required for the team ranking. Consequently, all the remaining teams on the leader board moved up one place, with France elevated to gold, Portugal slotting into silver and Italy stepping up to bronze.

The individual title went to Bahrain’s HH Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the 10-year-old gelding Darco La Majorie for their first world championship title. Defending champion, Salem Hamad Saeed Malhoof Al Kitbi from the host nation won silver with the 12-year-old chestnut mare Haleh. The bronze went to Jaume Punti Dachs with the Appaloosa gelding Echo Falls, making this a fifth medal in Endurance World Championships for the Spaniard.
