When and where did you begin this sport? One of his first memories of riding was at age seven on a pony called Cleopatra.
Why this sport? His parents were involved in the sport at international level. "My parents have both supported me a lot from a young age. They have trained me, looked for horses for me, as well as helped me find horse owners and sponsors. It's really been a team effort from all my family."

Famous relatives His father Thomas represented Switzerland in equestrian jumping at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. His uncle Markus acted as chef d'equipe for the Swiss equestrian team at the 2012 Games in London. His mother Renata competed in elite riding events and was Swiss champion in 1990, while his partner Paris Sellon has represented the United States of America in the sport. However, his career came to an abrupt end just days after returning from Tokyo when he slipped in a field at Fuchs’ stable in Wängi and suffered a fractured humerus on his right side. While Clooney did recover after treatment, he retired from competition.
General highlights He won European individual gold in 2019 and team gold in 2021. He won World Equestrian Games individual silver in 2018. He was the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final winner in 2022 with Chaplin and The Sinner. He was selected by Switzerland for the 2016, 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games.
