RIO DISAPPOINTMENT
He was disqualified from the individual competition at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after veterinarians found blood on his horse Zirocco Blue's flank. Vrieling had used his whip after the horse stopped twice at a combination during the qualification round. "I did not disagree [with the disqualification]. After he stopped, I hit him in reaction.
