Ehning still number one, the new runner-up is Rodrigo Pessoa

Marcus Ehning (GER) is leading the FEI Gandini World Jumping Riders Rankings since the end of May 2004. The 30 years old rider, who was part of the Olympic gold team in 2000 in Sydney, will also be a member of the German team in Athens, with his successful Hannoverian stallion For Pleasure. Marcus Ehning dropped 90 points at the end of July, which he easily recaptured in Aachen and at CSI Gera (GER), where he won the Grand Prix.

Brazilian star Rodrigo Pessoa had a busy July and earned no less than 170 points in Spruce Meadows (CAN), 100 pts in Aachen (GER) and 70 pts in San Patrignano (ITA). With his experienced stallion Baloubet du Rouet (Selle Français), Pessoa is also heading to Athens with the Brazilian team. The then World Number One combination earned a team bronze medal in Sydney in 2000, but was eliminated from the individual final further to an unexpected double refusal from Baloubet.

Ludger Beerbaum (GER) went down one place and is now 3rd of the World Rankings. He dropped a huge amount of points (320) at the end of last month. Among others, he collected 230 points in Aachen, where he finished 6th in the Grand Prix and 80 pts for his victory at CSI 3* of Hachenburg (GER).

Beezie Madden (USA) dropped down to 8th position (she was 4th in July), despite the high number of points she collected during the month, in Spruce Meadows, Aachen and Hachenburg. With her bay gelding Dutch Warmblood (KWPN), Authentic, she will be part of the US Olympic Team in Athens.
